Our ideal candidate is inquisitive by nature and is comfortable probing for answers, fact checking and conducting research as a general, everyday practice. He or she should be obsessed with discovering new things, whether it be the latest local restaurant or national news, and is both creative and thoughtful when interviewing members of the public to produce exceptional, high quality work.

Qualifications for Ideal Candidates Include:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary education institution.
  • Drive and passion for building your portfolio with hands on experience reporting real-time news.
  • The ability to self-manage projects with superb time management skills to ensure deadlines.
  • Superior grasp of the English language.


What You Will Learn:
·         How to create a long term investigative plan and content schedule.
·         Relationship building with our online community by contributing to our Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other social media accounts.
·         How to track content engagement with a host of analytical software.
·         Plan topics that will be shared by influencers by analyzing previous work.
·         Creative feedback and viral loops between our Facebook Page and Twitter accounts and our news site.
·         Assist our Director of Marketing in building and presenting a fully integrated content marketing plan.
·         Plenty of additional opportunities in related research projects.

What We Require:
·         Background education in Journalism, public relations or other related discipline.
·         Strong communication skills.
·         Proficient in Microsoft Suite Office.
·         Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.
·         Creative and Flexible.
·         Familiarity with social networking sites desired, but we will also train.
·         Interest in nonprofit management and community development.

The position begins March 31, 2014. You are expected to work 15 hours a week minimum with regular full time positions available upon successful completion of our probationary program.
